All air in the kiln will be replaced by steam till a temperature of 100°C and approx. 100% relative humidity. This will be reached by adding steam and heat to the kiln. This saturated air comes in direct contact with the timber to be dried and transfers very fast heat to it. After the timber has reached a temperature of 100°C inside, the temperature in the kiln will be raised over 100°C without adding anymore steam. The saturated steam will go over to superheated steam. At this moment, the water in the timber will start to boil. This effect will cause a slight overpressure in the timber, so the water will be pressed out and condensates in the overheated steam. This process causes a slight overpressure in the kiln, which will be vented to the outside.
